No. 38 The Park

Towards the end of 2016 was Michael and my three year anniversary. Most anniversaries we usually just go out for a meal, but this year we decided to treat ourselves to a mini break to the Cotswolds! We’d both had lots going on and decided it was time we had a nice break. Obviously I couldn’t resist on vlogging and blogging though, as nowadays I love sharing my life with you lovely lot!

So for part one of our mini break we drove over to Cheltenham and parked up around the corner from No. 38 The Park hotel. Their car park is only small and was full as we arrived early at about 1:30ish. As we stepped through the door I instantly felt welcomed into a big country house. There was no reception desk but instead to the left was a large lounge area with lots of art on the walls, big comfy sofas, fires and books all around! We were greeted by a guy who was extremely laid back (not on a bad way) and friendly, so just perfect for a chilled Sunday. He showed us the honesty bar where we could help ourselves to drinks, but let us know that if we fancied something a bit more fancy just to give them a shout! He then showed us to our room (which turned out to be the largest room in the hotel!) and… OHH MY GOSH! It’s bigger than our place back home! I instantly decided if I could I’d move in straight away! Sadly that obviously wasn’t an option, however I picked up loads of tips for how I want my house to be one day!

I loved the interiors in the bedroom and it had a perfect velvet bed with a TV that pops up and hides away (definitely a feature I want in my house sooner rather than later!). I love the blue / mustard colour scheme and the big wardrobes which really make a feature! The bathroom was SO big, there was even space for a velvet sofa in the bathroom — perfect for reading a book while I cooled down from my amazing bath! And let’s just say I was really looking forward to a shower the next morning as the shower was huge and took up the whole end of the room.

Around dinner time we jumped into their complimentary taxi to take us over to No. 131, one of their larger sister hotels which is also a part of The Lucky Onion group. I definitely recommend checking out their other hotels as they all looks gorgeous! No. 38 don’t serve dinner however they are trialling Sunday roasts some lunchtimes which looked super yummy. For dinner Michael and I both chose steak, I had a fillet and Michael went for the rump with sides of sweet potato fries and green beans. I wasn’t too hungry for some reason so I couldn’t finish mine, although it was very tasty. We ordered a sticky toffee pudding to share, it was okay but not the best… my local pub does the BEST sticky toffee pudding ever so I have very high standards!

Waking up to croissants and fresh orange juice on our doorstep is the perfect start to the next day, especially as I usually wake up pretty hungry! Obviously I then had a pretty long shower making the most of the powerful and luxurious shower! We then headed down for a scrumptious breakfast with plenty of fresh juices, fresh fruit, hams, cheese, cereals and croissants to choose from. There was also the option to order freshly made cooked breakfasts at a very reasonable price.

Check out was super relaxed (11 o’clock) and breakfast is served until 10, so we spent a little while in the living room relaxing on the sofas before it was time to head off. As we left they kindly gave us a bag with complimentary water and chocolate bar for our onwards journey… which then takes us to my next stop… The Fish Hotel! Make sure you check back to see that review on my blog very soon!

I also vlogged our little 3-day getaway, so if you want to watch our time away to see what we got up to at No. 38 The Park then here’s the first two vlogs:

Disclaimer: We booked the suite and paid the usual price and the hotel staff didn’t know I was blogging the stay until I mentioned it as we checked out, so hopefully our lovely experience is one that anyone would receive when they visit.
