Was the Lookfantastic “The Beauty Secret” Advent Calendar Worth It?

After lots of subtle hints to Michael about the many beauty advent calendars that came out for Christmas 2016, he chose well! He ordered the Lookfantastic Beauty Secret calendar after I watched the promo video they filmed for it. He kept it a secret from me all November and the poor guy had to put up with a month of me hinting about all the beauty advent calendars every time I saw another one or read another review. Oh there were so many good ones out there, which made him always worry if he had chosen the right one!

Last year he got me the Tanya Burr advent calendar which was amazing, but this year he decided to step it up with a calendar that had 25 days instead of 12!

This advent calendar was totally worth it! I loved waking up each morning with something new to try. It made December even more special!

So, here’s what I got:

Ole Henriksen The Clean Truth Cleansing Cloths

I love the smell of these SO much. They remind me of the frosties sweets I had when I was younger, so these are a winner for me! Sadly there was only 10 in a pack so I will be ordering the bigger pack for sure! They’re a fair bit more pricey than my usual cleansing wipes but they’re totally worth it. They make my skin feel great and again, the smell is just amazing! Definitely going to try more of the Ole Henriksen range as I was so impressed with these.

Origins GinZing Moisturiser

Funnily enough I have the facial scrub to this and I love the smell, so I was really excited to try the moisturiser, and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. I love Origins, they’re up there with my favourite beauty brands. I still haven’t found a product I don’t love by them! It’s such a lovely moisturiser for the morning, it’s super hydrating and energising. I will definitely be buying the full-size product when I run out!

Nudestix Lip + Cheek Pencil in Mystic

This colour is gorgeous. I really didn’t think I’d wear it much as I never really suit natural colours, however I’ve worn it tons! It’s so hydrating and long lasting, but obviously I have to top it up after eating! I love the fact it’s a pencil, it’s so much easier to apply and shape. I prefer to use this as a lip pencil instead of on my cheek.

Molton Brown Pink Pepperpod Body Wash

This was a really good size product for the calendar! Molton Brown have always made great shower gels, but as they’re on the expensive side I don’t usually get them, so it was a nice little treat to have! The smell is divine and it contains pink pepperpods and patchouli oil for antioxidant protection 👌🏻

Rituals Magic Touch Body Cream

I’ve been taking this one swimming with me as when I come back from swimming my skin always feels so dry and tight. It’s a nice subtle smell and leaves your skin feeling really hydrated and soft. It isn’t greasy which is the problem with some body creams. If you’re looking for something else from Rituals I definitely recommend trying their Funky Buddha collection, it’s one of my favourites smells!

ThisWorks Sleep Plus+ Pillow Spray

I already own and use this product in full-size and I love it, so this one in the calendar is a great size for when I’m travelling! It really helps me relax and get a great night’s sleep.

Ardell Wispies Eyelashes

I don’t wear fake eyelashes as I find them so uncomfortable and end up spending half the day worrying I’m going to suddenly lose them half way down my face! However I’m sure my sister will enjoy these so I’m going to send them her way!

Look Good Feel Better Eye Shadow Brush

I really like the fact this brush has a long think handle, it makes applying eye shadow so easy. It’s definitely a good blending brush too!

Moroccan Oil

For years I’ve been using Macadamia Oil, which is very similar, and I love using it in my hair as it speeds up the process of drying it and leaves my hair feeling great! It was good trying the Moroccan Oil as they’re both very similar products. I love the smell of this oil and it doesn’t leave your hair feeling greasy or clumpy which some oils can.

Ojon Damage Reverse Hair Serum

I’ve been loving hair serums lately. Since colouring my hair I’ve released how important it is to try and keep my hair nourished. This serum is definitely up there in my top favourites! It comes with a pipette so it’s really easy to apply to your hair. I just put a few drops onto my hairbrush and brush it through, which saves getting oily hands!

Codage Masque Micro-peeling

Unfortunately I haven’t tried this product yet, however after reading a few good reviews online I’m looking forward to it. Keep an eye on my Twitter as I’ll be sure to let you know what I think of it after I use it.

Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream

I’ve been enjoying using this eye cream however I have to be honest, I do need to get better at using it every night and every morning for me to get the full benefit and to see if it makes a real difference.

Ren Revitalising Night Cream

I love Ren products. It’s not a brand I’ve got much experience with but the products that I have tried I’ve certainly not been disappointed by. I’m a big fan of their Rosa Centifolia cleansing water. I only used this night cream a few times as sadly I found the scent quite strong and it wasn’t something that relaxed me in a way other scents can when you’re getting ready for bed.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

I’d never tried Dermalogica before so I’m glad this product was in my advent calendar. It’s a scrub that you have to mix with a bit of water, and if I’m being totally honest, I thought it was a bit of a faff and the smell wasn’t amazing (yes… I’m very funny about what I put on my face, it has to be a smell I love!).

Wella Oil Reflections Shampoo

I really liked this shampoo you didn’t need to use much at all the first time I used it I might of used to much and it left my hair looking greasy however the other times I used it I really like it!

Monuskin BB Cream Illuminating Primer

This is quite a think primer and left my skin feeling a bit a greasy! I do however like the fact is was SPF 15 and it’s a BB cream as well as a primer.

Pixi Glow Tonic

This is a product I’d wanted to try for ages after hearing so many great things. I enjoyed using it but I ran out before I got to see a difference and brighter looking skin, so I think I need to buy a bigger bottle!

Redken One United 25 Benefits Treatment

You can use this product in two ways: you can wash it out or leave it in! I left mine in my hair but was worried it might leave it feeling greasy, but luckily it didn’t. However it’s hard to tell if it really gave my hair 25 benefits, but it definitely didn’t do any harm using it! I’m looking forward to using it more over the next few weeks as it was a 30ml sample and you don’t need to use much at all.

Foreo Luna Brush and Night Cleanser

I love the idea of this brush. I’d seen them before as they also make toothbrushes too! They have such a great design and come in all colours, sizes and types for different skin types! This one’s a mini one and unfortunately you can’t recharge it (shame it wasn’t one of their rechargable ones, but this one lasts for about 100 uses).

Unlike some other similar brands, Foreo Luna brushes don’t need replacing and are completely washable and quick drying to stop the build up of bacteria. It’s definitely worth going on the Luna website and having a browse! I love using mine, I just don’t want it to ever run out of power 😂

Pur Minerals Impact + Mascara

Sorry, I’ve not got around to using this one yet! 🙈

Christophe Robin Masque

I used this the day after I’d been to a spa as my hair felt so dry after being in and out of different saunas and steam rooms. I just applied it in the shower instead of my conditioner, left it on for 2-3 minutes and rinsed it out. It made my hair feel and look amazing. I’m hoping this tub will last me a while as I can’t afford to buy a full sized product… it’s £53! It’s definitely an item I’d buy regularly if I had a bigger budget when it came to haircare!

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse

I’m looking forward to using this product in the summer as it’s the shimmering oil and I think it will be good to use when I’m not covered in a 100 layers! I’ve heard so many great things about Nuxe so I’m excited to try this.

Inika Loose Mineral Blusher in Blooming Nude

This blusher wasn’t really my colour so it sadly wasn’t for me!

Bellapierre Gel Eyeliner

I found this gel eyeliner quite hard to apply, it seems like you have to press quite hard before it makes any mark 😣 I much prefer a liquid eyeliner, so I think I’ll be kindly gifting this to my sister!

Illamasqua Eyeshadow Palette

OMG I can’t believe on Christmas day behind door 25 was this gorgeous eye shadow palette! I’d never tried Illamasqua before so I was wearing these eye shadows all over Christmas. It was the Ombres a Pauierres with a mix of browns, reds and peach colours… oh I just love them all! It’s now my go-to eye shadow palette! These palettes are £32 so definitely something I couldn’t afford to treat myself to right before Christmas. I was so amazed it was in there in door 25! I also got a £10 off Lookfantastic voucher which lasts until April!

Overall I absolutely loved this advent calendar! It’s introduced me to new products and brands, some of which I’ll most definitely go on to re-buy! My bank balance will not be happy! It’s so great that you get a mix of samples as well as full-sized products. I love sample sizes as they’re easy to take away with you when traveling!

For £70 the advent calendar is a bargain. The value of all the products is over £300, and it includes a £10 off voucher. Totally worth it!

I will absolutely be asking for this advent calendar every year! Thank you Michael for treating me to it — it was lovely having something new to try every day throughout December!
