Introducing The Ordinary into My Skincare Routine

The Ordinary is probably a brand you’ve heard of as they’re getting pretty big now. I even hear they’ve opened a shop in Spitalfields Market! I haven’t been by the shop yet as I ordered my products from ASOS but I can’t wait until I’m next in the area as I’d love to pick up some of their foundations.

They are known for their effective clinical technologies and have brought out really affordable skincare! The Ordinary is also part of the Deciem umbrella who also own Grow Gorgeous (if you’ve been following my blog for a while you would have spotted my blog post on Grow Gorgeous!) Other brands that fall under Deciem are Hylamide and NOID, you may of heard of them!

All Deciem products are free from, are you ready for it… parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, animal oils, benzalkonium chloride, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury, oxybenzone. Phew! Plus they don’t test on animals which is a big bonus!

It did take me a while to figure out which products do what jobs, and as you can see by the names it’s not easy to get your head around!

So the bits I picked up from The Ordinary are:

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% – £5

I apply this mainly a night before my night creams, however you can apply it in the morning too. It contains Vitamin B3 which reduces blemishes.

Buffer – £13

This is the most expensive item I bought from the range. It seems like a really good all-rounder so I couldn’t not add it to my skincare collection! This serum contains 11 skin friendly amino acids and multiple hyaluronic acid complexes which targets hydration, fine lines and winkles. I apply this morning and evening after cleansing (only in the evening if I’m not using the one above. I tend to switch them up. Who knows if I’m doing it right, I need my own personal Caroline Hirons!).

Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% – £5

I personally didn’t like this product. I didn’t like the tingly feeling! I probably should have given it longer as apparently the tingling stops after 2 weeks of using it. You can apply this product AM and PM to help with protecting your skin against ageing.

High- Adherence Silicone Primer – £4

I’m a big fan of this primer! I apply it in the morning before I put on any makeup and I find it makes it stay in place much longer. Plus it’s not greasy!

So, my thoughts on The Ordinary Skincare. I’m still left pretty confused by most of their products and trying to figure out which ones I really need and which ones I don’t. I feel like you need to do your research if you want to figure out what’s right for you.

I really want to check out their store and see if they’re helpful, as I think if I found the right products for my skin then it would be a great brand to have in my long term skincare routine. They’re definitely a brand I want to experiment more with.
