Makeup Masterclass with Bobbi Brown

Last month I attended a Bobbi Brown Makeup masterclass in their Soho makeup studio. They have an amazing space you should definitely check out if you’re passing by. Theres a shop upstairs and downstairs they have a room with a sofa, coffee table and makeup stand, I’m guessing this is used for more one-to-one makeup services. Then there’s a bigger room with a stage and a screen which is where we were for the event, where we learned learning lots about Bobbi Brown makeup with Lampros Faslis who is a Bobbi Brown makeup artist. You might remember it from my vlog from the evening, and if not you can see it here. We were given plenty of products to take away and try at home, and it just happens that I absolutely love them so I’m going to share them with you lovely lot.

Let’s start with the Stick Foundation, and interestingly I’ve never tried a stick foundation before. I really like the way it just glides onto your face, however I feel it takes more blending than my usual liquid foundation. I use my Zoeva brush to blend mine as I find it’s the best way to blend it in to give a nice natural finish. I’m the shade warm beige which I find this a really good match. The foundation stick gives great coverage, I’m totally shocked at how good this foundation. I wasn’t expecting it from a stick foundation!

Moving on to the Pot Rouge for lips and cheeks in Uber Beige. This is one I’ve been using on my cheeks as the colour on my lip wasn’t working for me. It was a creme so I was a bit apprehensive as I’ve always used powder blushes, however I’ve been converted to a creme blush as you only need a tiny bit and it’s great for just a hint of colour on your cheeks. I’m used to applying tons with a brush and I end up looking like a clown, so I’m glad I’ve been able to try a creme blush and add it to my makeup collection.

Now for the dream product. THE Shimmer Brick! When I saw this was included I was like OMG, I’ve been wanting to try this product for ages and I have no clue why I left it so long, my sister’s always raving about hers. I have the colour beige however when I repurchase it I’ll pick up the colour bronze as I think as it’ll be a better colour for my skin tone. I really like the fact you can use the colour individually as eyeshadows too. You only need a tiny bit at a time as a little really does go a long way leaving you with the perfect glowing finish.

Let’s talk about eyes… firstly the Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Rich Caviar. This is such a dark rich colour for the lower lid and it blends out to give you a gorgeous smokey eye, and you really only need a tiny amount.  The model had an eyeshadow in Camel all over the lid and All Spice in the crease. It was such great look for the festive period which is upon us, as it’s not a look I would go for every day of the year. I have found myself reaching for the Camel Eyeshadow daily as it’s such a wearable colour, and so easy to apply all over my lid. I find the Bobbi Brown eyeshadows are really pigmented and long-lasting I will definitely be adding more to my collection.  Moving onto the Long-wear Eye Pencil in Jet which is long wearing but unfortunately on my oily lids I do end up getting a black smudge halfway through the day. The Smokey Eye Mascara is one of the best mascaras I’ve used and really makes your lashes look fuller and longer.

Moving on to lips… and I feel your lip colour can really finish off a look! I love a good lipstick and we were gifted the Crushed Lipstick in Cabana and Telluride.  I’m super impressed with these lip colours. Cabana is my current go-to lip colour, I really love it but as we go into winter I can see myself wearing Telluride a lot more as it’s a darker richer colour, so perfect for this time of year. The lipsticks have a creamy texture to them making your lips feel hydrated, however I do find the longevity of them is not amazing, so I always pop one in my handbag to top up throughout the day.

I’ve really been enjoying using the Bobbi Brown products over the past few weeks. Have you ever tried anything from Bobbi Brown? I’d love to know what your must-haves are!
