Friday Fitness Week 6

Run One – 24th April

Today’s run was made up of a 5 minute warm-up walk, 5 minutes of running, 3 minutes of walking, 8 minutes of running, another 3 minutes of walking, 5 minutes of running, and then a final 5 minute warm-down walk. Phew! I definitely prefer the previous 20 minutes of solid running as I managed to pace myself better rather than keep running and stopping. I guess this means I’m improving!

Run Two – 26th April

I totally misheard what Laura (the lady to does the podcast) said this week! I thought we were running for 3 minutes then 10 minutes… easy right!? So I started running pretty quick thinking that 3 mins is no problem. Quite a while later Laura said we were half way through… and I thought WOW, this 3 minutes is going really slowly! It turns out she actually said 10 minutes of running then 3 minutes of walking… then another 10 minutes of running! The rest of the run turned out to not be too bad as I thought it was going to be considering I had started at a much faster pace!!

I’m home now and absolutely freezing… it has been such a crazy day: snowing, hail stones and even some sun! How is it snowing at the end of April!? Who knows ay!?

Run Three – 29th April

This run was a 25 minute run, with 5 mins or warm-up/down either side. It sounded kinda scary but it wasn’t bad at all. The best bit was after I had completed it Laura said that I’m now officially a “runner”!

Apparently the rest of the runs are all non-stop running without any walking in-between. This is great as it means I’m really improving and getting closer to the goal of running 5k in 30 minutes!


I’m totally ready to smash week 7 of the NHS Couch to 5K program now… wish me luck!
