I was invited along with a few other bloggers to Peterborough to hear about some of the exciting things Queensgate Shopping Centre are planning and some of the new stores opening.
Also, very exciting news… Laura (LovedByLaura), Emily from Musings and More and I have been made Queensgate certified “QBloggers”, which is pretty cool as we’ll now be able to tell you guys all the latest news hot off the press!
I even have some news for you now… Queensgate has NYX opening on 26th June! Rumour has it that another make-up brand will be following in their footsteps too… but you’ll have to be patient and wait to find out what that is!
When we arrived we were given a short presentation in McDonalds. Who knew McDonalds has a hidden meeting room… pretty cool ay!? We were then given our tasks (nerve-wracking… it felt like I was back at school!) It turns out the tasks were really fun, nothing boring like you would have at school! Yippeeee!! My task was based around Cara Delevingne! FUN FACT: I actually have a photo I took of Cara when I spotted her on a photoshoot when I was in New York! CRAZY!
The Off-Duty Model Look
This task was to re-create Cara’s off-duty look. Here’s what I found:
The Top: Whistles Merci Striped Tee: £45 How gorgeous is this top!? I would wear this so much, I really must go back and pick it up.
The Trousers: New Look Black Skinny Jeans: £14.99 These were my own as I find it so hard to find jeans that fit me!
The Bag: Whistles Mini Verity Leather Backpack: £180 If this backpack wasn’t £180 I would have bought it straight away!
I could also see Cara wearing something like this on her off-duty days: Four Pocket Jacket: £59. Teamed with a white tee and some black leggings this would be such a great look.
While I was in John Lewis I spotted this boyfriend fit shirt (£80). It would look so great with some jeans as Cara loves the double denim look, or teamed with some black leggings!
I also spotted this Calvin Klein Sweatshirt: £80, perfect to pair with some jeans. I can definitely see Cara wearing it.
The next task was to find a hat, pair of sunglasses or some jewellery Cara would love.
The Hat: I was originally on the hunt for a cap as I know how much Cara loves her caps, however I couldn’t find one as I only had 10 minutes to finish the task as the shops were closing! Ekkkk… it was a mission but a VERY FUN one!! I ended up going with the Topshop Natural Fedora Hat: £20.
The Sunglasses: Topshop Lila Round Sunglasses: £14 Why didn’t I buy these myself!? Topshop has so many great sunglasses at the moment, I want to go back and buy loads for holiday! A girl can’t have too many pairs of sunglasses can she!?
The Rings: I photographed a 6 pack of rings however when writing this I couldn’t find them online. I did find these similar ones for £10.
The Shoes: The shoes are from Topshop. I couldn’t find them online but here are some similar ones for £49.
My choices for the tasks are all clothes that I could quite happily own myself. I loved these tasks, it reminded me of when I used to work in a few different clothes shops back when I was studying and needed a weekend job. My favourite part of working in retail was putting outfits together for customers!
It was a very fun evening spent with the girls rushing around picking out outfits and snapping away! Now it’s time to save up some money to head back to Queensgate to buy some of the lovely items I found.
The Goodie Bag
The goodie bags we were given were full of lovely items from various shops that are dotted around Queensgate:
Lakeland gave us a microwave whisk and magnetic toast tongs, which are definitely going to save me from getting an electric shock with the amount of times I get toast stuck in the toaster!
Carluccio’s gave us some amazing looking lemon olive oil. I love cooking and I’m so excited to try this on some of my spring/summer recipes. I LOVE lemon so I’m very excited about this one. Did also you know that Carluccio’s now do picnics?
Lush gave us the dream cream sample which is one of my favourites, and they also gave us a block of Bohemian soap. I know I’m going to like it already as the smell is refreshingly citrusy, and as I said earlier, I love lemon!
Paperchase gave us a lovely postcard, a cute little card, stickers and washi tape. I love everything in Paperchase and I love going in there to pick up new bits to add to my stationary box.
Boots gave us lots of little samples. I’ve never tried a bareMinerals mascara before so I’m excited to try the sample I was given. Always useful to take samples in my handbag rather than pack a big one! I also got a sample of Benefit’s Big Easy and a POREfessional mask that I’m going to use tonight while relaxing!
Tiger gave us a bag full of their amazing goodies. I love their store and I’m always finding random but lovely things in there. We got given a feather pen, a feather headband and some funky nail decoration. Hello festival season… I’m definitely going to be using these at Secret Garden Party this year! We also got a nail kit, a facial cleansing brush, a watch and a mini bird clothes hanger. So random yet so cool!
The Body Shop gave us samples of the new Oils of Life, which I already wanted to try before buying some myself, so good choice body shop — it smelt amazing! We also got the Drop of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask, which I tested at my Body Shop party a few weeks ago so I’m looking forward to trying it! Finally they gave us the Vitamin E Moisture Protect Emulsion, which is perfect as I had just bought the Vitamin E cleanser and toner.
Don’t forget Queensgate is open late (‘till 8pm) every Thursday and Friday evening! There’s also free parking after 5:30pm so it’s a no-brainer really… free parking and evening shopping… why wait to go on a busy weekend!? I’ll definitely be back for a late night shopping session!
Let me know what you think of my outfit choices! Have you got your eye on any new outfits at the moment?
