I spent yesterday with my sister and we thought it would be nice and sunny as it’s the 2nd of June… this definitely wasn’t the case so we didn’t feel like spending too much time outside. Even with the rubbish weather we ended up having such a fun day. We went out for brunch and then spent the afternoon baking. I forgot how fun baking is, I usually just dread all the mess and washing up at the end! Just another reason why being an adult sucks… when I was younger my mum would do most of the cleaning and tidying up after cooking/baking! Ah the good old days of being a kid right!?
I’m actually glad it wasn’t sunny as we ended up baking The Londoner’s Lemon Drizzle Cake recipe. My sister is the baking queen in the family and she said it’s the best recipe she found for lemon drizzle cake.
It was a super quick and easy recipe and it was great having my sister do the baking as I got a chance to be behind the camera. If I’m ever baking or making things then M is the one behind the camera photographing things.
I have to say I’m glad my sister told me about the recipe as I’ll never need to search for another recipe like this one again. It was sooo tasty, which is why I’m sharing it with you lovely readers, plus I couldn’t resist taking lots of photographs… who doesn’t like seeing photos of cakes right!?
I was especially excited about baking yesterday as I’ve wanted to christen my new cake stand! It was a great bargain from Catesby’s, an amazing home store in Cambridge. If you want to see more about them then check out my blog post from the Catesby’s blogger event I went to a few weeks ago.
I hope you enjoy this post! I’m happy to say I now have my baking bug back so I’m going to be doing lots more posts like this. If you guys have any great recipes please share them with me as I love discovering new things to make!
