A few months ago I found myself booking a much needed holiday! I really liked the idea of planning everything, finding the perfect hotel, booking flights, travel, etc. but I soon realised it would take a lot of time and hassle, and it would also be expensive. So I decided to head over to Thomas Cook, and I searched for hours (yes hours!) as I knew I wanted to go somewhere hot in Europe for 7 days, but I had no idea where!
I searched through so many hotels and I saved a few along the way, however as soon as I came across one particular hotel I just knew we needed to book it ASAP! I’m so fussy with the hotels I stay in and I’ve been very lucky in the past to be able to go away with my dad and my sister for many years (shhhh I know I’m 25 and I should be paying for my own holidays) and I blame my fussiness on my dad — he likes to stay in luxury hotels! We always enjoy and appreciate family holidays, where we can take a week or two out of our busy lives to relax and enjoy quality family time together. Although my sister and I are adults it’s still really important to us to take that time out.
We stayed at the Sunprime Monsuau in Cala D’Or, Majorca. I love the design of the hotel, it was very modern, light and airy, and all the surrounding white buildings reminded me of Greece. It’s not quite 5* Dubai like I’m used to (I can’t yet afford that luxury myself!) but it’s really amazing and I wanted to share it with you guys.
The hotel is made up of 4 buildings and we stayed in the main one. In some of other buildings they have ground floor rooms with small pools (with deck chairs) out on the balcony which looks super cool! They also have live entertainment most evenings and their roof-top bar with amazing views is just lovely, especially watching the sunsets!
On the Sunday evening we went to the night market which was only a quick 5 minute taxi (around 6€), and I managed to pick up a few presents for family back home. The beach is a 5–10 minute walk away from the hotel and there are 2 Spar shops close to the hotel, which is great for stocking up on little snacks! I also enjoyed walking down there to pick up an ice lolly or two ? The hotel rooms have empty fridges which is great so you can buy lots of water and drinks and keep them cool. The hotel also provided towels (inc. beach towels), however if you want to get new clean beach towels one day it costs €2.50.
In the morning for breakfast there is a big buffet full of lots of choice, from full English breakfast, fruit, cereals, pastry, juice and pretty much everything you could think of… even doughnuts to M’s delight! I usually had bacon and toast and then went back for a pastry! For lunch we ordered from the pool bar menu which had plenty of choice. We always shared lunch as the heat always makes us less hungry, so we usually went for a pizza or bbq chicken wraps with fries. The evening buffet also had plenty of choice each day. With all that choice I’m always tempted by a little bit of everything, however I think I should have tried sticking with a meat and veg dish and trying to make just 1 nice plate of food rather than trying a bit of everything each night! They also had chips most nights and they were really tasty. The restaurant has plenty of seating inside and out and we always make sure we sit outside!
- The hotel was light, clean and modern.
- The staff were all really nice and friendly.
- It was in a great location, away from the busy beaches but an easy walk to the shore.
- The hotel rooms were big.
- There is plenty of choice of food.
- They have a spa and gym and they offer yoga, water aerobics and other fitness classes.
- Good evening entertainment but also another bar if you wanted to relax away from the music.
- Adult only, no noisy kids!!
The Not So Good
- There were no toilets around by the pool, just showers, so you have to walk into the reception area.
- The double rooms all have two single beds put together. After the first night we asked about it and it turns out they can put a double fitted sheet on to cover them over and hold them together (to save me falling down the crack in the middle of the night!) but even then it wasn’t too comfortable laying right in between the two.
The staff were lovely and I was really impressed with the hotel. We would definitely consider staying there again! I’m also looking forward to staying in some of the other Sunprime hotels!
Just a quick note to say that this post wasn’t a collaboration or sponsored post! I really enjoyed my stay here and wanted to share it with you all!
