What Kind of Sleeper Are You?

I regularly struggle some nights to get to sleep and apparently I’m not alone, as 36% of the UK are sleep deprived.

Holland and Barrett invited me to choose which sleep persona I am so they could create a personalised sleep pack just for me! Here were the choices:

  • The Late Night Browser
  • The Ridiculously Early Riser
  • The Slumber Interrupter
  • The Caffeinator
  • The Daytime Dozer
  • The Biggest Snoozer

I definitely come under the “Late Night Browser” category, thanks to Twitter, Instagram and YouTube!

Here’s the collection of products they chose for me to help me get a good night’s sleep:

Miaroma Pure Essential Oils Lavender (£8.49) and Peppermint (£5.59)

These oils are great to add to a bath, although I’m usually a bubble-bath kinda girl. I plan to buy an oil diffuser soon so these will be great to use to fill the room with the lovely fragrance! The peppermint one will definitely be great for unblocking my nose when I get a cold. They can also be used as a massage oil.

Silk Kiss 100% Silk Charmeuse Pillowcase (£28.00)

Let’s not forget the dreamy 100% natural silk pillowcase! I’ve wanted one for ages but had never seen them in stores and had never thought to order one. It’s sooo soft and I’ve noticed my hair is less knotted in the morning. According to the leaflet it can help prevent split ends, hair loss, acne, pimples, skin aging, skin creased morning skin and also helps with better skin hydration. I’m a little skeptical about a few of those claims… it’s super silky and comfortable, that’s all I need from a pillowcase!!!

Dr Organic Lavender Skin Lotion (£6.59)

This moisturiser is great before bed after a lovely warm bath! It’s also organic which is always a big plus. I love the fact it contains cocoa butter and shea butter which makes it super hydrating. It’s free from parabens, synthetic colours and silicones.

Miaroma Relaxing Lavender Temple Balm (£8.00)

This product is perfect to take on a night flight or if you’re traveling and maybe you don’t have a pillow to spray the sleep mist onto. It’s nice and small so it can fit in to your handbag if traveling and you’ll still get the lovely smell of lavender to make you relax and drift off. It’s also really good if you’re just having a stressful day and need 5 minutes to relax. This is definitely going to stay in my handbag!

Miaroma Relaxing Lavender Sleep Mist (£7.00)

I’m a big fan of sleep mist and I usually use the This Works version, but this one was great and worked just as well. To be honest they all just smell of the same lavender so I doubt there’s much difference, apart from the prince. This one is much cheaper! It’s also 100% natural.

Heath & Heather Organic Camomile Tea (£2.25)

Sadly I’m personally not a big fan of the smell of camomile, but I can see how it would be relaxing and help calm you down as you’re unwinding from a long day and getting ready for bed.

So my evening routine over the past few weeks has started with a bath with lavender bubble bath which I bought from L’Occitane. When I get out of the bath I use the lavender skin lotion. I really love it as it’s so moisturising. Once I get into bed I spray my pillow with the mist. I’ve noticed the smell stays stronger on my cotton duvet cover rather than the silk pillow case for some reason!? I’ve also been rubbing the temple balm onto my wrists and the back of my neck and it’s definitely helping, especially on Sunday evenings when I never sleep well due to fearing the early start on Monday morning! It seems like the key scent for a good night sleep is lavender, and good job I love the smell of lavender!

As a blogger I’m quite often taking blog photos in the evening and using my light boxes. They’re very bright lights and can play havoc with your brain if it’s trying to unwind ready for bed. After using them it can be hard to remember it’s late, and you need to re-adjust to evening again. It’s also not great staring at a bright phone in bed and it makes it harder to switch off, so that’s definitely something that needs to be cut down on to help with sleep!
