Plants — I’m Going Green!

Okay so I might be trying to turn the apartment into a jungle (at least that’s what M keeps saying!), but it’s not quite that bad yet. There’s something about filling a home with plants and bringing the outside in that just makes things feel so much more relaxing.

So what plants have I invested in? Firstly I discovered House of Plants who are amazing and make plant shopping so easy. You just browse their site, find a plant you like, look at the super detailed information about it, order it online and they turn up right to your doorstep! Secondly, IKEA! The land of flatpack actually do some amazing plants and cacti!

When picking plants I really did my research, and most of all I needed something that’s easy to look after and keep alive. For some reason I’m not great at keeping plants alive unless its an orchid… somehow I’m a flippin’ pro at keeping them alive, and everyone says they’re the hardest!

I always knew I wanted a Swiss Cheese Plant 50cm  as I just love the shape of the leaves, so that was the first on the list. Whenever a new leaf comes through I get super excited to watch it unravel!

Then I chose an Aspidistra that are apparently impossible to kill! Well let’s just wait and see how it goes shall we, mine seems to look a bit floppy at the moment and I’m not sure if that’s normal or a bad sign!!

Other plants I’ve filled the place with are a Hedera Helix that I keep on the top shelf of our new unit, and then few Succulents scattered around.

Let’s not forget one important thing… it’s all about the pots! Yes I love finding a great plant pot. I have to say my favourite place for pots is Anthropologie, however Homebase, Wilko’s, Habitat, Flying Tiger and Oliver Bonas are all great places to find amazing pots too!

I’ve heard that plants really do create a happier atmosphere, which is why people try and add them into offices and work places. Personally, I’ve always managed to kill every plant I’ve owned (including a cactus!) so I doubt I’ll be adding any to my new home. But they look really pretty in yours 🙂

You should give it a try I think the trick is not to over water them which is great because I am lucky if I even remember to water them 😂
