So Glossier came to the UK this week and it caused a lot of hype! Was it all worth it? My answer is… hell yessssss!! My order arrived on Thursday and I know it’s only Saturday today but as soon as it arrived I filmed my unboxing video and then took photos ready for today’s blog post! This is a little bit of a first impressions post.
So let’s talk about the Milky Jelly Cleanser first! I’ve used this twice and it’s amazing! You can apply it to a dry or wet face so I took my makeup off last night with a dry face and then this morning I applied it to wet skin to cleanse. It’s really gentle and definitely goes further when applying to a wet face. It reminds me a lot of the Kiehl’s Centella Skin-Calming Cleanser that I used to have, however at £15 it’s a lot cheaper than the Kiehl’s one which is £28. It left my face feeling really smooth and I didn’t feel I needed to moisturise after this cleanser (some cleansers really leave my skin feeling dry and tight). Will I be re-buying it!? Yes, for sure!!
The Birthday Balm Dotcom is SO worth the hype! Firstly it smells of birthday cake. Whatttt..!? AMAZING!! Secondly I wasn’t sure if I’d like it as I’m funny with lip balms if they’re too glossy and sticky but this one is perfect, it’s glossy but it doesn’t have that stickiness to it, so I love it! I’m definitely going to pick up a few more flavours of this one. There will be one in every handbag trust me!
I wasn’t overly keen on the Priming Moisturizer but maybe it will grow on me. This is one I’m going to have to report back on once I’ve used it a few times. I’m not going to let the smell put me off using it!
Moving onto makeup, my first pick was the Boy Brow how could I not pick this one up!? It’s been raved about so much, and boy is it good (excuse the pun)! I’ll be using this on my brows everyday now. I picked it up in brown and okay I was a little disappointed with how small it is, especially as it’s £14 (a bit pricier than the Rimmel brow products) but the price hasn’t put me off as it’s such a great product.
I also picked up the Haloscope highlighter in “quartz”. I’d love to test out the other colours too however I think I’ll wait and see if Glossier end up opening a store here to check them out. If not I’ll wait until my next trip to New York where I can test them out. For the time being I’m happy with the shade quartz as it’s such a nice dewy glow highlighter! I’ll definitely be repurchasing this one over and over!
I really like the Stretch Concealer I picked up in “medium”, I feel it’s the perfect shade for me. I wouldn’t mind trying “light” to just to see how they compare.
I feel the makeup is quite pricey for the amount of product you get, especially as I just rolled my highlighter up to see how much is actually in the tube and there isn’t as much as I thought there would be. I’m interested to see how much product I use daily and how quickly they’ll need replacing.
They’re definitely a bit higher in price than Rimmel or Boujois. I’d probably they’re similar to Mac, maybe even a bit higher given the product sizes. You can buy some products together to make a saving so that definitely works doing. All products are dermatologically tested, hypoallergenic, non-irritating, paraben free and alcohol free. A BIG plus is that they also don’t test on animals, so given all that then perhaps price-wise they are worth the money. Plus, the packaging… when they arrive they’re really pretty plus you get the cool pink pouches… yes I’ve been eagerly awaiting when I can get my hands on one of those pink pouches!! You also get stickers and a sample with your order as well!
Talking of samples, I got a sample of the new fragrance (well I’m guessing it’s coming soon). It looks like it’s going to be called You! and I love the scent. Yeppp, it’s already on the good old Christmas list! It’s a fresh scent that really reminds of Byredo Gypsy Water that’s been on my list for ages!
So the good news is that all orders are being shipped from the UK warehouse so you can pay in £’s and no customs or fees. You can pay for next day delivery or get free shipping on orders over £25. PERFECT!! ?
