It’s time we start thinking about Mother’s Day, I can’t believe we’ve already had Pancake Day and Valentine’s Day… where is this year going already? I love Mother’s Day, my mum is great and I love having an excuse to spoil her, so I wanted to share with you my top picks for Mother’s Day. I feel Mothers Day is such an important day, and to make it thoughtful I like to treat her with a present and take her out for a nice meal so we can spend some quality time together. Whether you’re looking for a gift idea for your mum, gran, aunty or whoever your special mum figure is in your life, John Lewis is my go-to place for presents. They literally have everything covered no matter what your mum is into, all to make sure you can pick your mum a thoughtful gift this Mothers Day.
The Fashion-Forward Mum
If your mum is ultra cool and very into her fashion she is sure to love these ideas. I’ve picked a Scion umbrella which is a must-have for the rainy wet days which sometimes surprise us throughout spring. Kin is one of my favourite brands in John Lewis, it’s really reasonable priced and has some great picks. I know my mum would love this handbag! I’ve also picked some Superga, mega trendy for mums plus they’re super comfortable and great for spring. If your mum loves jewelry this And/Or necklace is such a lovely statement piece. If you feel like going all-out you could treat your mum to a lovely jumper. I picked this Modern Rarity one as it looks super soft.
The Green Fingered Mum
I was so surprised how many items I could pick for a mum who loves gardening. I thought this would be a really hard theme, however there are so many great gardening related gifts from hand creams (any keen gardener needs a GOOD hand cream) to this True Grace candle which would sit perfectly on a garden table in spring/summer. I had to include some herb pots for the kitchen, isn’t the Orla Kiely one gorgeous!? Also Sophie Conran is great if your mum has a windowsill in her kitchen to fill with herbs. Then any keen gardener needs a watering can, and why not replace her plastic green boring one with a tin one to stand out in the garden!?
The Cook of the House Mum
Okay so if your mum loves to cook then I have you covered. TBH who’s mum isn’t a great cook!? I recently attended a Waitrose Cookery School event with John Lewis and we made pasta. Who knew how fun it would be!? So if you fancy setting your mum up to a challenge be sure to pick her a pasta maker. You would be shocked how many kitchens are missing one and how much fun it is to make your own homemade pasta! I’ve also included the Joseph Joseph chopping boards as I believe every kitchen should have a set of these. I love my ones and I think it’s great that they’re colour coded, plus they look so neat on any kitchen worktop. Also, maybe your mum just needs her old grubby oven gloves replacing, so I’ve included the Orla Kiely ones as they’re such a standout piece. If your mum isn’t hands-on in the kitchen then the Charbonnel et Walker Pink Marc de Champagne Truffles are a perfect go-to gift — they’re so delicious. If any mum’s don’t like chocolate but love cake then this Sophie Conran cake stand is stunning, plus don’t forget to pick her up a cake to go with it!
The Beauty Lover Mum
I always love searching the beauty section in John Lewis. It’s my go-to place whenever buying a gift as I believe you can never have too many beauty products. Also some beauty products you would just never buy yourself, like I know I would never buy myself perfume, so it’s always a great present to give. I’ve included the Molton Brown Bath and Body gift set as it’s always lovely having some posh body products for a change. If you don’t want to spend as much as Molton Brown then the Origins Ginger Body Balm is a great alternative and it smells incredible! How could I not include a Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick!? They’re so long lasting and look great in any handbag with their gorgeous stand-out gold luxurious packaging. Then lastly there’s the Bobbi Brown Repair Nourishing Milk. As we had a long winter this is a great product to kick off a nice healthy glow going into Spring.
I hope I’ve given you lots of ideas for lovely gifts you could pick up for your mum and I hope you all have a great time celebrating Mother’s Day!
