THIS IS A PAID COLLABORATION WITH CALA HOMES
When I was younger, if my parents weren’t sure what to do with my sister and me on a weekend they would say “oh let’s go look at new homes and have a nose around a showroom”… just in case anything took their fancy! I reckon that’s where I got my love of interiors from, all those hours being taken around show homes! I guess it was a good deal for them as it was a free day out!
We spent the day in The Taymore, a 5-bed house which would make the perfect family home with plenty of space to entertain, rooms for children and a guest bedroom. Also the master bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe… SOLD!!
The first part of the day we had a nose around The Taymore and
It was then time to test our gardening skills… obviously a key skill for any homeowner is to make sure you can have an impressive garden too! We learnt how to pot plants and I guess I wasn’t too bad (with a lot of guidance!!) and I just have to hope I can keep the plants alive now! I think the key is to water them lots… sounds so simple!
Now, back to the show home as the interior designer arrived after my potting workshop! I really liked the interiors of the house, very light and airy! We were all mainly asking where loads of items were from as there were some lovely choices,
I really liked the curtains he used downstairs, they were on a track running the full height and width of the room, floor to ceiling, which gave it such a nice modern touch. He used lots of wallpaper around the house which gave the rooms different textures, but they were so well chosen, all quite neutral. He also layered pictures and mirrors on wallpaper which is something I’d never thought about doing before!
The Taymore was made up of a large kitchen/diner, living room, dining room, cloakroom and a study/snug on the ground floor. Upstairs there were two smaller rooms, then 3 double rooms with a family bathroom and two ensuites, plus a dressing room off the master bedroom! All the ceilings were higher than most new builds as CALA homes like to build them above the minimum requirement which is so cool! In the showroom all the beds were standard sizes, as apparently some show homes will put smaller beds in to make the room feel bigger, but CALA aren’t about misguiding the eye!
I hope I’ve given you a feel of what CALA homes are about, and even better maybe persuaded you to go have a nose around one!?
